On the road, at your door: let's care for those who care for you

29 Jun 2026 · SUR.lu Team

Summary

Our teams travel the roads of Luxembourg for you, day after day. A smile, a little patience, a word of thanks: that is what gives them their energy back. A heartfelt call for respect.

To those who pass them on the road, and those who welcome them home

Right now, many of our colleagues are tired. That is not an admission of weakness — it is the reality of a job they love, but that asks a great deal. So today, we take a moment to speak about them, and to ask you one simple thing: a little respect, a little kindness.

On the road

Every day, our caregivers get behind the wheel to travel from one home to the next, in all weather, often against the clock. They look for parking, pull in as close as they can, race the clock so as not to keep you waiting.

Fatigue at the wheel is real: in a study on caregiver fatigue, more than half of nurses (54%) reported struggling to stay awake while driving home from work. On the road, a little patience toward a parked care vehicle, a space left free, a courteous gesture — it matters more than you think.

At your door, and in your home

Our teams do not only care for bodies: they listen, reassure, accompany. That emotional commitment is immense — and it is sometimes sorely tested.

The recent figures speak for themselves: according to a large 2026 survey of nursing staff, 27% of caregivers experienced physical assault in the past year and 52% faced threats or aggressive language. These tensions most often come from relatives, in moments of distress we understand. But a respected caregiver cares better, more calmly, for longer.

A word for our teams

To each and every one of you: we see you. We see the kilometres, the stairs climbed, the hands held, the shortened nights. Your tiredness is legitimate, and your work is precious. Take care of yourselves, just as you care for others.

What each of us can do

  • On the road: a little patience and courtesy toward care vehicles.
  • At home: welcome the caregiver with kindness, even on hard days.
  • As a family: a simple "thank you" carries enormous power.

Caring for those who care for us is not a slogan. It is a chain of respect that begins with a look, a word, a gesture. Thank you for being part of it.
